Jacqueline Leigh is a New York City based makeup artist specializing in character design. What originally inspired her was watching her mother transform herself in the bathroom mirror before she would do things like go out to dinner or to a party.  The way the eyeshadow sparkled on her mother’s lids, the way her complexion and the structure of her face instantly changed, these were all little details that intrigued Jacqueline into becoming a professional makeup artist. She now continually finds inspiration in her surroundings; things like nature, other artists (makeup or otherwise), movies, books, fabrics, clothing and more. 

 

Throughout her high school and college years, Jacqueline focused heavily on the arts; attending a fine arts high school and taking several art classes in college.  This helped to give her a deeper understanding of color theory, saturation, highlights and shadows, and frankly, a steady hand! During this time Jacqueline also worked with professional models doing hair and makeup, has had several works published in JEZ magazine, and showcased her work live at RAW Artists: IMPACT.  Her most recent educational endeavor was at Make-up Designory where she was able to apply all of her fine arts background into the more modern art of makeup and learn so much more about her chosen medium.

 

In the future Jacqueline hopes to ultimately design characters for films that range from fantastical to gore.  Currently, she is happy working on more beauty related projects, such as magazine editorials, until she furthers her education and is able to create the complex characters she wants to a more professional degree.
